I am worried about the political situation in Egypt.

Tucked away in our haven, on the serene coast of the Southern Red Sea, the atmosphere is that of peace and serenity. There has been no problem of any description in this area. Thomson Travel would not take us to anywhere troublesome.

What is the temperature like in Marsa Alam in February?

Usually in the mid 20's- like a beautiful English summer.

I need use of a wheelchair for some of the day. Is there easy access?

Yes, our hotel is only 5 years old and wheelchair accessibility is built into our hotel.

I would like to come but do I need to bring another person to share the room?

No not all, please come by yourself and have fun meeting new people. Making friends in this environment is very easy and sharing rooms is actually fun.

How many people are able to go on your Creative Textile Retreat?

There will be 25 guests apart from the tutors.

Can I leave my booking till after Christmas?

Due to the popularity of our retreat during February 2011 I predict we will be fully booked by Christmas, so the answer is no, book right now!

Do I have to attend every creative textiles lesson during the week?

If you prefer to nip off for a dip in the pool or a stroll along the beach, that is fine. All the techniques we will be teaching are free standing - by that I mean if you miss a lesson here and there, it will not upset the flow of the week for your creativity. We just want you to come and go as you please.

What materials do I have to bring?

Nothing at all - the cost includes all art materials so all you need to pack is your clothes! :-)

What are the workshop hours?

Marilyn and I plan a timetable which is quite packed
9 - 10.30 then one hour off for the sun
11.30 - 1.00 workshop
2 hour lunch break
3 - 5 pm workshop
Total 5 hours every day for 5 days

I am afraid of getting sick in Egypt

The hotel we are staying in has a 5* ranking for many reasons - and our hotel prides itself on outstanding standards for food hygiene. My family and I spent two weeks here last year and none of us got sick. Everything and everywhere is beautifully clean and tidy.

Is the hotel on a building site?

Everything is in pristine condition and has been finished for several years now. Look at the photos - the whole place is stunning.

Are partners welcome?

Partners are very welcome to come. Last year we had a token husband, and he had a lovely time to himself during the day, diving. He joined us each and every meal time, and in the evening, so always felt included in the group.

What can partners do all day by themselves?

Partners need to be self reliant- those who love to read, take photos, play on their computer, tennis, squash, diving (an excellent centre) , gym, sun bathe by the pool - all wonderful relaxing activities. To my knowledge their are no excursions other than out on a boat.

Please view the above video to see and hear the testimonials of our previous attendees.
